ABOUT THE ARTIST...

Dawn Strouse is originally from Tampa, Florida.  She fell in love with NC in 1998 and moved to Boone to pursue her Master’s Degree.  After graduating, Dawn lived and worked as a speech pathologist in Charlotte for 8 years.  In 2006, everything changed!   Her daughter was born 3 months premature.  At this point in her life, Dawn decided to seek more balance in her life.  She stayed at home with her daughter and focused on the joy and humor in the everyday miracles of being  a mother.  This change prompted her to revisit a childhood love of art.  As long as she can remember, Dawn was always making things, drawing, painting, cutting and glueing things.  She never realized that following her heart could turn into this….

Her very first painting was titled, “Giggle House”.  It was a whimsical & folksy painting of her current home on an antique window.  In 2009, Giggle House Studio was born!  Dawn specializes in various forms of children’s artwork, wall murals, funky window glass paintings, and mixed media canvas paintings.  Her paintings are difficult to describe, but as a self taught artist she loves to use a variety of different materials, funky and vibrant colors, and a whimsical and folksy style.  

She resides in Charlotte with her husband Thomas, daughter Sullivan, and two dogs, Tucker and Sydney, and a fish, Sookie Ookie.
